Team Canada’s Michael Schmidt, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Dan MacLelland, a native of Windsor, Ontario, earned the silver medal in the doubles competition at the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) Men’s Championships, which is taking place at Guadalajara, Mexico. This is the second silver medal for Canada in the championships. MacLelland earned silver in the singles competition.
Patrick Allen and Walter Ray Williams, Jr, USA earned the gold. Puerto Rico’s Andro Simounet and Bruno Dias who were the leaders from the first squad, took the bronze medal.
84 competitors from sixteen countries in the Americas are taking part in the championships which includes singles, doubles, trios, team event and a match-play masters event.
Competition is taking place at Bolerama Tapatio, a 42 lane centre. Bolerama Tapatio will also be the site of the bowling competition for the Pan American Games in October.
Other team members competing who earned their berth on Team Canada at the 2010 National Championships are: Art Oliver, Hamilton, Ontario, .Mark Buffa, Montreal, Quebec, George Lambert IV formerly of Hamilton, On, and now residing in Texas and Jack Guay, Calgary, Alberta. MacLellland and Lambert IV are members of the Professional Bowlers Association.
The top 16 all events leaders will compete in the match-play masters event. After two events, Canada has three bowlers in the top 16 – Dan MacLelland is 2nd, Michael Schmidt is 7th and George Lambert IV is 13th.

May 12, 2011 TEAM CANADA WINS 2 MORE MEDALS AT PANAMERICAN BOWLING CONFEDERATION MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS
Team Canada’s won the bronze medal in the team event and silver in the All Events at the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) Men’s Championships, which is taking place at Guadalajara, Mexico.
Canada has now earned a medal in each event in the completion. Dan MacLelland, formerly of Windsor, Ontario and now attending Saginaw University, won silver in the singles. MacLelland and Michael Schmidt, Winnipeg, Manitoba won silver in the doubles. MacLelland, Schmidt and George Lambert IV, formerly of Hamilton, Ontario and now living in Texas, won bronze in the trios. Today, Team Canada members: MacLelland, Schmidt, Lambert IV, Mark Buffa, Montreal, Quebec and Jack Guay, Calgary, Alberta, won the bronze in the team event.
In addition, MacLelland earned the silver medal in the All Events completion.
Team USA earned the team gold and Team Puerto Rico won the silver in the team event. Bill O’Neill, USA won the gold in the All Events and Manuel Hernando, Colombia earned the bronze All Events.

May 13, 2011 TEAM CANADA’S DAN MACLELLAND WINS GOLD IN MASTERS AT THE PAN AMERICAN BOWLING CONFEDERATION MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS
Team Canada’s Dan MacLelland, a native of Windsor, Ontario and now completing his education at Saginaw University, won the gold medal in the Masters at the Pan American Bowling Confederation Men’s Championships. Competition took place at Bolerama Tapatio, a 42 lane centre. Bolerama Tapatio will also be the site of the bowling competition for the Pan American Games in October.
The masters, a match-play event (best two-of-three matches) was the final event of the competition. MacLelland defeated Alejandro Cruz of Mexico in two straight games 269 -203 and 224 – 175. Cruz received the silver medal. Bill O’Neill and Chris Barnes, USA earned bronze medals.
The victory was the climax of a successful week at the championships for MacLelland. He earned a medal in each event – silver in singles, doubles and all events, bronze in trios and team and finally, gold in the Masters.
Canada had four competitors in the masters event – the final event of the championships for the top 16 all events finishers. Michael Schmidt, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mark Buffa, Montreal, Quebec and George Lambert IV, formerly of Hamilton, On and now living in Texas also played in the match-play.
Team Canada members earned their spot on the team at the 2010 Canadian National Championships. Art Oliver Jr., Hamilton, Ontario and Jack Guay, Calgary, Alberta, completed the team.
