Pro Endorsement Department, Part I: As noted in a previous installment, match-game King Jimmy Smith was an early advocate of physical training. In 1928, Jimmy appeared in a series of full-page ads in which he stated: “Bowling demands one’s being in shape physically and freedom from nervousness. One way I have found to keep fit, I avoid sweets.” Then Jimmy gave his alternative prescription — he lit up a certain brand of cigarette instead. (Well, it was a different world then...)
